In an effort to educate the public and bring attention to Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASDs), the non-for profit group “Autism – There is Hope,” sponsored a two-day seminar at the Kalahari Convention Center in Wisconsin Dells, WI. The 4D Conference was appropriately held over Mother’s Day weekend as mothers play a significant role in detecting early signs of ASD in their children. Mothers often take on the major role of seeking, researching and instituting treatment options, and many bear a burden of immense guilt as to why their child, who was developing normally, suddenly reverts, disappearing behind a mask of Autism.
The conference opened on Saturday featuring six highly regarded speakers and ended with an unprecedented open forum panel debate. Presenters detailed scientific-based data that focused on causation of ASD and associated disorders such as, Asperser’s Syndrome, ADHD, ADD, learning disabilities, emotional disorders, speech delay, and neurological dysfunctions. The information demonstrated how the complexities of heavy metal components in vaccines, environmental influences, genetic pre-disposition, and toxic burden combine to be the main contributing factors in the skyrocketing occurrence of ASDs in children.
According to the Center for Disease Control, ASD is a group of developmental disabilities that can cause significant social, communication and behavioral challenges. ASDs are reported to occur in all racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic groups, yet are on average four to five times more likely to occur in boys than in girls. Unlike epidemics caused by infectious disease, the cause of Autism and related disorders is controversial to say the least. ASDs have reached epidemic proportions in the U.S. affecting one in every 110 children, a dramatic rise from 1984 when rates were one in 10,000. A 2006 CDC report underscored the prevalence and declared ASD an urgent public health concern with an estimated 730,000 individuals between the ages of 0 to 21 affected to some degree; overwhelming statistics that warrant alarm yet barely register a blip on the radar screens of mass media exposure.

Special guest speaker Dr. Stephen Barrie founder of Genova Diagnostics, an international clinical reference laboratory for physicians, opened the conference with a presentation of preliminary results of a one-of-a-kind clinical digitalized data-base. Consisting of 50,000 tests, analyzing blood and urine samples of thousands of children who suffer with ASDs, it is the largest study of its kind. Through these studies, Genova Diagnostics monitors ideology, treatment and progress over time on test subjects.
Preliminary findings show that ASDs are multi-factorial in that there is no one cause but many triggers. Exposure to chemicals and heavy metals in the environment, i.e. air, water, and food, injection of heavy metals and toxic adjuvants into the blood stream through vaccines and immunizations and/or some intravenous nutrition. Injection of these toxins into an under-developed or immature immune system such as an infant’s, coupled with that individual child’s body’s ability to eliminate the toxins, determine whether this child will develop ASD. Genova’s data show in a concrete way the consistent role toxic burden plays in the development of ASDs in the children who were tested, and reveals that when toxicity levels decrease, through various treatments, children show improvement in their ASD condition.
“Genes play a role,” said Dr. Barrie. “But they aren’t the cause. Genes load the gun, but the environment pulls the trigger.”
Next, Dr. Boyd Haley, PhD, opened his presentation by dedicating his talk to the mother’s of Autistic children. He disagrees with the Institutes of Medicine’s idea of spending 28 million dollars to find the genetic cause of Autism. “They aren’t going to find one; biochemistry 101 tells us – genetics can’t cause an epidemic.”
Dr. Haley was Chairman of the Department of Chemistry at the University of Kentucky from 1996-2005. Professor Haley is now devoting additional time to research. An NIH Postdoctoral Scholar in the Department of Physiology, Yale University Medical School from 1971 to 1974, in the past 17 years, Dr. Haley has emphasized studies on the biochemistry of Alzheimer’s disease. His research in the biochemical aberrancies in Alzheimer’s disease also led to his identifying mercury toxicity as a major factor in this disease. He was one of the first to propose that the organic-mercury preservative, Thimerosal, in vaccines is the most likely toxic agent involved in Gulf War Syndrome and autism related disorders. Dr. Haley has testified before numerous government agencies on the effects of mercury toxicity from dental amalgams and vaccines. His articles include Reduced Levels of Mercury in First Baby Haircuts of Autistic Children, which was published in the International Journal of Toxicology.
“Something is causing this. [ASDs] What do we know about the toxicant?” Haley poses the question to the audience of approximately 100. “Well we know that it had to have increased in all 50 states at about the same time. And that time was between 1988 and 1990” – [The same time the Department of Education documented a drastic increase in Autism related disorders with a dramatic increase in school funding for special education. It was also during that time when the CDC increased the recommended childhood immunization schedule.] “We know the toxicant is introduced before the age of two or in utero. And we know it [the toxicant] has an increased effect on males over females.” Haley continued. “I’ll tell you the only toxicant I know of, is mercury. It affects males more than females.”
Mary Tocco followed Haley. She is an independent researcher and public speaker, mother of five children who started researching natural immunity 30 years ago. She raised five children “outside of the medical model with a conscious decision not to vaccinate.” Tocco played an active role in maintaining parents’ right of exemption from vaccination in the state of Michigan. In the state of Wisconsin, a parent can refuse vaccination on the grounds of religious belief, philosophical belief or medical exemption which allows children to still be able to attend public school, unvaccinated.
Her research discloses issues about vaccines that she believes parents need to know in order to make an informed decision about whether or not to have their baby vaccinated. Tocco states that without this information about vaccine adjuvants, parents cannot make informed choice.
“I believe as parents, this is the most controversial, emotional important decision you will ever make on behalf of your children, because it has life-long consequences,” said Tocco about vaccination.
What else do vaccines contain in addition to a virus or bacteria? Adjuvants. An anjuvant is an agent that may activate the immune system and increase the response to a vaccine, so less vaccine is needed. This reduces vaccine production costs. Adverse effects are due to the result of hyper stimulation of the immune system. Tocco reports, adjuvants have unintentional sensitizing effects on the body which can lead to severe allergic reaction, and says that manufacturers admit to a large list of adverse effects to these adjuvants, including death. Vaccines consist of known toxic ingredients of which there are no safe levels. According to Tocco vaccines/childhood immunizations, contain at least one or more of the following; aluminum, formaldehyde, thimerosal (mercury), oil emulsions, calcium phosphate, to name a few adjuvants, which then are injected into the blood stream during vaccination. Hen’s eggs and peanut oil are commonly used, too, “which could explain the sudden and severe peanut and egg allergies some children have.”
“Just Google adjuvants and you’ll find out everything you want to know,” said Tocco “When vaccine manufacturers decreased the amount thimerosal, they increased the amounts of aluminum.” Tocco then refered to Dr. Robert Sears’ book “The Vaccine Book.”
“Safe amounts of aluminum land between 10-20 micrograms, however the Hepatitis B vaccine, the ‘day one’ shot, routinely given to babies in the hospital the day they are born, contains 250 micrograms of aluminum.” Tocco goes on to say that “If that same baby receives the recommended vaccines at his first well-baby visit he will received another 1225 micrograms in those shots, and by the time that child is 18 months and fully vaccinated, he will have received 4925 micrograms of aluminum.” **
**Approximately 95% of an aluminum load becomes bound to transferrin and albumin intravascularly and is then eliminated renally [kidneys]. In healthy subjects, only 0.3% of orally administered aluminum is absorbed via the GI tract and the kidneys effectively eliminate aluminum from the human body. It is only when the GI barrier is bypassed, such as IV infusion [into the bloodstream] or there is advanced renal dysfunction, that aluminum has the potential to accumulate. As an example, with intravenously infused aluminum 40% is retained in adults and up to 75% is retained in neonates.4 http://emedicine.medscape.com

Jonathan W. Emord who presented “Unsafe Drugs and Vaccines at the Dr.’s Office; Big Pharma’s Undue Influence over the FDA.” Emord is an attorney, and author of critically acclaimed “Freedom, Technology, and the First Amendment,” and “The Rise of Tyranny.” He has been practicing constitutional and administrative law before the federal courts and agencies since 1985. Having begun his career as an attorney in the FCC during the administration of President Ronald Reagan, Emord has maintained an abiding conviction to achieve full First Amendment protection for the freedoms of speech and press.
Dr. Renee Tocco, D.C. spoke on “Pathogens, Viruses and DNA Components in Vaccines.” She is a chiropractic physician trained by top clinical researchers at the Autism Research Institute’s “Defeat Autism Now!” conference. She then furthered her studies under Dr. Shaw of Great Plains Laboratory. In 2008, she founded the American Chiropractic Autism Board and is the coordinator for Hope for Autism, (HFA), a bio-nutritional care training conference. Her focus is on healthcare issues common among those who suffer from ASD and related conditions and effective natural care. Dr. Tocco, as an HFA and DAN! Doctor, cares for patients suffering with Autism Spectrum Disorders, Add, Chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia, gastrointestinal problems and other chronic conditions.
Dr. Mayer Eisenstein presented “Statistics (historical and current) Vaccine Safety/Effectiveness and The Studies, Health Timelines, Conflicts of Interest, VAERS*” Eisenstein is the Medical Director of Homefirst Health Services in Chicago IL. He is a graduate of the University of Illinois Medical School, the Medical College of Wisconsin School of Public Health, and the John Marshall Law School. In his 33 years in medicine, he and his practice have cared for over 75,000 parents, grandparents and children. He is Board Certified by the National Board of Medical Examiners, American Board of Public Health and Preventive Medicine, and the American Board of Quality Assurance and Utilization Review Physicians. He is a recipient of the Howard Fellowship, Health Professional Scholarship, and University of Illinois School of Medicine Scholarship and is a member of the Illinois Bar. Of the approximately 30,000 children in his practice there is virtually no autism, or asthma. He does not vaccinate and is an advocate of home birth. He recently spoke at a Mothers Against Mercury rally where he made this comment.
“I woke up this morning and looked around and I said, you know, there’s no mercury in the thermometers, there’s no mercury in the contact solution, the saline solution and we’re told not to eat fish with mercury. Does it make any sense that we should inject mercury into our children? But mercury isn’t the only issue. As an attorney, I learned in law school you never limit yourself. I look at some of the signs here, we’ve got mercury, aluminum, antifreeze, aborted tissue and monkey kidney [in vaccines] a recipe for disaster.”
At the end of the first day of the conference there was a rare vaccine open forum discussion open to the public, where both sides of the vaccine issue were represented. Although many Medical doctors including heads of public health and immunization programs in the state were invited, only one M. D. accepted the invatation to participate on the panel. Dr. Maureen Murphy from Lake Delton Clinic, Lake Delton, WI., specializes in family practice and obstetrics. In 1981 she earned her Medical Degree from St. Louis University. Her professional activities include, Haiti Medical Mission of Wisconsin, founder and board president. She is a fellow in the American Academy of Family Physicians, member of the Wisconsin State Medical Society, Physicians for Social Responsibility and the American Association of Medical Acupuncture.
